MISGIVINGS

If you dance are you a dancer
If you dream are you a dreamer

If you fight are you a fighter?
If you lie are you any lighter?

If you kick it are you less sicker?
If you wreck it are you any better?

Now it ends and you are too tender
So you run away with a bender

Now you wonder if it’s wonderful
Since you’re too old to stay in the cold
Now the heathens have built their own heather
Can’t know the bird just from a feather

I have misgivings

If you sin are you a sinner?
When it ends are you a beginner?

And you ask of you are the answer
If you are just damage is this a disaster?

If it hurts are you a worker
If this ain’t close why do I bother

We may revolve but we aren’t revolvers
Do we spin around like our fathers

Now you wonder if it’s wonderful
Since you’re too old to stay in the cold
Now the heathens have built their own heather
Can’t know the bird just from a feather

I have misgivings
