MONEY Money is a peace Sitting in my head Tells me about the future And all that I’ll be fed Money is a war When I am without Straining on my neck bones Drying out my mouth Money is a present Passed down if they can Can also be a burden Heavy in our hands Money from the past From work or family trees Fails to have a meaning Useful in degrees Money is a concept A blessing and a curse It can change opinions It can make things worse Money is a now But maybe not an always We all keep it a secret So people judge our dog days Money is our savior Bowing to our wants Hoarding in the banks Until it needs to flaunt Money is a boot heel A manmade tool for power Although it can’t buy love It rents it by the hour Money comes for everyone Barters almost everything Can’t get you into Heaven Distraction is its king Money is an anchor And a big hot air balloon Can pull you underwater Or fire you to the moon Money is illusion That all of us agreed One more made up rule To keep us on our knees Money fixes money problems And really nothing else Work has a higher purpose That only can be felt If money disappeared How would we all behave? How would we find our worth? How would we entertain? How would we feed ourselves? How would we show our love? How would separate The below from the above? Money keeps us honest And pays the liars well I’m not a fan of money If you couldn’t tell Money is our savior Bowing to our wants Hoarding in the banks Until it needs to flaunt Written by: Steven Gullett
